Teeth Whitening
What is teeth whitening?
Teeth whitening has become increasingly popular with patients of all ages. Although the amount of whitening cannot be guaranteed, teeth can usually become two or more shades whiter after treatment.
Teeth can appear duller for a number of reasons, such as diet, ageing, certain medications, smoking and trauma. Teeth whitening is a gentle chemical process used to eliminate discolouration and lighten teeth, giving you a noticeably brighter and more youthful looking smile.
Whitening typically works better on older teeth, but cannot change the shade of existing fillings, crowns, veneers or dentures.

Home Whitening
This treatment can be done at home at a time that suits your lifestyle, a custom tray is created bespoke for your mouth and a peroxide gel is applied for around two hours every day for 28 days.
Before you begin treatment a full check-up will be carried out to make sure your teeth are in perfect condition, ensuring you have no defective fillings or unsealed cavities as these may cause unwanted sensitivity. Impressions are then taken for your custom tray(s).
A hygienist appointment will be made so we can ensure your teeth have no dental plaque or external stain that might interfere with the whitening process.
On your next appointment, the dentist will check your custom trays fit correctly and you will be given your custom whitening tray and home whitening kit. Your dentist will also give you guidance and advice to get the best results and answer any questions you may have.
In-surgery Whitening
Similar to the at-home whitening kit, however, the active ingredients are more concentrated and must be used by your dentist. The whitening gel is applied and usually takes 30-40 minutes to develop.
